Perhaps the biggest pot in pokers history? Not even close, but at over half a million this certainly holds some credentials, this is how it went down. High Stakes poker cash game, 100k minimum buy in, 50k min rebuy.
Blinds of $300-$600 with an ante of $100
Early spot Gus raises to $2,100, Daniel Re-Raises to $5,000, note that Antonio E (the magician) mucks AQ at this point, stating that he doesnt want to be out of position against these two relative beasts. Gus goes ahead and calls $2,900 more.
Wow indeed, the flop is seemingly huge for both players, 78 of course has a lock on it, Gus checks to Daniel who bets out $8,000, Gus check raises to $24,000, Daniel thinks alittle and decides to try and trap and just calls the raise.
Again a seemingly great card for both players, in reality a disaster card for Daniel who fills up his boat whilst Gus hits his one outer and makes quads. Gus leads out this time with another $24,000, Daniel just calls the bet, surely again believng he is trapping Gus. Now this is certainly an interesting card, any 7 made its straight, 57, 79 etc and both players consider this, Gus inspirationally checks to Daniel, who fires a value bet of , $65,000 with his boat, into the $111,700 pot, Gus check raises all in for $167,000 more and now Daniel knows something is very wrong, but alas goes ahead and calls off Gus's remaining stack. Leaving the pot at a grand total of $575,700, not a bad days work Gus. Not bad at all. |
